Omega 3 fatty acids have long been hailed as healthy fats that are good for the heart and lowering your risk for heart disease. Omega 3s are also great for the health of your hair, promoting growth, elasticity, strength and shine. Look for omega 3 fatty acids in capsule form, fortified cereals, juices, dairy products and naturally in many fish, including fresh tuna, salmon and halibut. Vitamin A &Vitamin C – Both vitamin A and vitamin C are essential for the health of your hair. Vitamin A contains antioxidants and helps to strengthen hair to prevent breakage. Look for Vitamin A in dark leafy greens, carrots, fish and tropical fruits. To help grow hair, make sure you have enough vitamin C in your diet. Vitamin C can be found in many fruits, including citrus fruits, watermelon, cantaloupe and mango.
Iron – if you are iron deficient, you may have noticed increased hair loss. Good sources of iron include shellfish, beef (especially liver) soybeans, lentils, and iron-fortified cereal.
